Karolina Jesień works on critical theory, intellectual history, and environmental thought in Central and Eastern Europe. She received her PhD in Critical Theory from the University of Nottingham with a dissertation on the figure of the collective body in Walter Benjamin’s interwar thought. Her current research focuses on ecology in state socialist Poland, with a focus on sozology, a project to establish a science of environmental protection in the 1970s and 1980s.
